code of conduct

This is our human readable code of conduct for our behaviour as business owners, and the standards we require from our team members

While our employment contracts and employee handbook (available to view below) provide the legal framework of our relationships, this Code of Conduct outlines the minimum standards of professional conduct that we expect from all our team members. We also expect the same from our customers and are happy to end relationships with customers who make our team feel uncomfortable.

Honesty, trust and mutual respect

We are judged not only by the work we produce, but also by how we conduct ourselves. We promote an environment that is free from all forms of discrimination and value the diversity of all people. We are all human and all deserve to be valued. We treat everyone with the utmost respect, courtesy, honesty and fairness. We do not discriminate against anyone based on their race, caste, nationality, religion, age, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation or union membership (in fact we positively encourage team members to join a union).

Each of us has the power and the responsibility to effect change in our company. Regardless of our position in the company or how long we’ve been part of the team, we are all equally responsible for taking action if something isn’t right.

We take responsibility for looking after our own mental and physical wellbeing, as well as looking out for our colleagues. We are kind, compassionate and understanding. We know we can ask for support and are encouraged to do so.

Unacceptable behaviour

We all know that there are many behaviours which may not rise to the level where they are obviously illegal, but make a workplace unpleasant and unsafe to work in. To us these are unacceptable, and we place a responsibility on every team member to be vigilant for bullying, harassment and discrimination. The company management will always be available to listen to any concerns, and promise to protect all team members.

External Supervision

As we are a small company, we acknowledge that there is a potential for team members to feel that they have no neutral party to report bullying, harassment or discrimination to. Therefore, we strongly encourage team members to become members of a union and promise to fully engage with (and where possible fund) union recommended independent mediation when a conflict of interest occurs.

Confidential Information

This is set out more specifically in our privacy policy, but as part of our work, we are entrusted with confidential information, such as contact details. We have no interest in using this data for anything other than employment requirements, processing orders, sending newsletters (that have been specifically opted into!) and we will maintain the confidentiality of the information entrusted to us.
